Position Summary
We are seeking a multi-talented Art Director to lead the visual direction and production of creative assets across our projects and clients. This role is both strategic and hands-on. You’ll shape brand identities, pitch visual concepts, and design everything from logos and print materials to digital ads, reports, and social content. You must be comfortable working independently, communicating directly with writers and clients, and juggling multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute a range of visual communications including branding packages, presentations, pitch decks, social graphics, print ads, mailers, reports, publications, and web graphics.
- Serve as visual strategist on client projects, developing design concepts that match each client’s brand, voice, and goals.
- Collaborate with writers, strategists, photographers, and freelance talent to produce polished, integrated deliverables.
- Maintain and evolve brand standards across all media formats for both CWJ Strategies and our clients.
- Coordinate production with printers and vendors to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Balance multiple deadlines and priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Occasionally assist with internal projects, marketing materials, or special event collateral.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3+ years of professional design experience, preferably in an agency, consultancy, or freelance setting.
- Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop).
- Strong understanding of typography, layout, branding, and visual storytelling.
- Experience preparing files for print and digital publishing.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and designing for digital advertising (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.).
- Comfortable taking creative initiative and leading design direction.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to receive and give feedback constructively.
- Bonus: Experience with video editing, motion graphics, or web design tools.
Working Conditions
- Small team environment. Autonomy and accountability are key.
- Flexible working hours; some extended hours may be required for project deadlines.
- We’re headquartered in Tyler, TX. While we value in-person collaboration, we’re open to hybrid or remote arrangements for the right candidate. Must be accessible 8am-5pm, M-F.
