An All-American pastime with our lawmakers up at bat
Are you ready for a grand slam of All-American charm this June? Let’s knock this out of the park, folks! Because nothing says America quite like apple pie and… politicians playing baseball.
Last week, we were fortunate to be able to attend the Congressional Baseball Game, a cherished annual tradition of our nation’s capital, and a heartwarming celebration of camaraderie that extends far beyond political affiliations. And not only that, it raised over $1.8 million for local charities.
In this game, we find Republicans and Democrats, not as political rivals, but as competitors in a friendly game of baseball. The underlying spirit is not about winning or losing (OK, it’s a little bit about winning – which the GOP did!), but more about fostering a sense of unity and shared joy for America’s favorite pastime.
The Congressional Baseball Game teaches us an essential lesson: underneath the suits and political agendas, our lawmakers are human beings who value relationships, appreciate a good game, and know how to come together in the spirit of friendly competition. It’s a warm reminder of the human capacity for camaraderie, compassion, and unity, even in the most unlikely of places.
⚾ We hope you’ll all take a tip from our lawmakers, have a great summer, and PLAY BALL.
